Books
If you like to read books about the lagoons, estuaries, waterways, and coastal areas of Southern California, especially in San Diego County, this is the spot for you! We continue to curate this list regularly, so if you have suggestions of books to include please let us know.
Published by the San Francisco Estuary Institute (SFEI), this book provides some of the non-indigenous ecological history of the lagoons in North San Diego County by "reconstructing the landscape and eco-system characteristics of northern San Diego County lagoons prior to the major modifications of the late 19th and 20th centuries". It includes textual descriptions, maps, photographs, data visualizations, and analyses of a variety of cited data sources.
The book is available from SFEI as a downloadable high-resolution PDF and a low-resolution PDF. It's also available as a printed paperback book from an independent bookstore and from BN.com.
